In this edition of ‘Drilling Down’ , we take a look at how Minnovare’s Azimuth Aligner allowed Swick to eliminate re-drills associated with inaccurate set up and deliver a lower cost per drilled metre to their clients.

Swick Mining Services is a well established and respected drilling services contractor based in Australia, with operations in the US and Canada.Known as the ‘Minerals Industry Drilling Innovators,’ Swick constantly looks for new ways to maximise drill rig operational productivity – benefitting both Swick and the end client.Minnovare’s Azimuth Aligner is patented in multiple countries worldwide, and is the most accurate drill alignment technology in the world (+/-2°); more than double that of the nearest competitor!The Azimuth Aligner has allowed Swick to substantially increase meters drilled per shift, increase operating revenue per operating rig (ARPOR), eliminate re-drills associated with inaccurate set up and deliver a lower cost per drilled meter to their clients.All of which has delivered a significant bottom line increase for both Swick and the end client. Swick began using the Azimuth aligner in 2014, working closely with Minnovare to provide a solution in which the tool could be as mobile and versatile as the drill. Swick has since been systematically fitting the Azimuth Aligner to a number of rigs across the fleet.
